20:13 this afternoon (Saturday, April 11) marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 13 space mission, launched by the Kennedy Space Center in April 1970, but landing on the Moon was halted because the reservoir with oxygen had problems. The flight control team at the Apollo Mission Center worked with three astronauts James Lovell Jr., John Swigert Jr. and Fred Haise Jr. to return them safely to Earth.
Referring to the big event, NASA engineers, historians, researchers and audio and video experts worked to bring the mission back. Apollo 13 is broadcast on apolloinrealtime.org .
If you haven?t seen it, Apollo 13 was also realized in the form of a semi-documentary in 1995, although it was one of the most underrated films of the time. It describes the tension between three astronauts trapped in space. The phrase "Houston, we have a problem" has its origins here.
