Cardi B's (sensational) $24 million civil assault trial is over

Cardi B has emerged victorious in Los Angeles after a jury unanimously found her not liable for physical assault in a civil case against her.

The lawsuit, which arose from an alleged incident in 2018, was filed by a former security guard, Emani Ellis, who alleged that the rapper had racially abused her. The jury's decision cleared Cardi of any obligation to pay damages totaling $24 million.

Cardi B, 32, a mother of three, denied any physical altercation during her testimony, citing her pregnancy and Ellis' "large" body as conditions that made it impossible for her to commit the acts she was accused of. She also argued that they had only had a verbal argument after Ellis invaded her privacy by filming her during a visit to the gynecologist.

In a dramatic incident during the trial, Ellis claimed Cardi had hit her cheek with her nails, but a doctor from a Beverly Hills gynecologist's office testified that he did not see the attack. Ellis filed the lawsuit against Cardi B in 2020.

As if the trial wasn't enough, on the day of the verdict, Cardi B was caught on camera throwing paint at a paparazzi who asked her about the pregnancy rumors, which were said to be coming from her ex-husband, Offset. 

Her stylist Elizabeth Stewart, who also works with Julia Roberts, was by her side throughout the situation, as Cardi left in a car. The paparazzi, however, greeted her by saying:

"I still love you, Cardi!"

Additionally, Cardi B was recently sued over an alleged incident in Las Vegas in 2023, where she allegedly threw a microphone during a performance. The rapper has also filed for divorce from Offset, with whom she has three children.
