Student life is a mix of two worlds: one where you take photos with coffee and books and hashtag #studyvibes , and the other where you have puffy eyes and 18 pages to study in 4 hours. We know you're tired every day with exams that never end, so here are some tricks that aren't magic, but they really work.
1. Study groups
We're not saying study with the friend you always end up saying, "Hey, let's leave it for tomorrow?" Create a group where each person knows something that the other doesn't. Have a knowledge exchange.
2. Chewing gum is more than just a habit
Some studies show that chewing gum helps you focus. Especially in the first 20 minutes. Fun fact : the brain associates chewing with “attention.”
3. Change where you study - home is not always the "temple of knowledge"
If you can't stand looking at the wall in front of your desk, change your view. A library, a quiet café, a park bench - changing places helps your brain to not get stuck.
4. Speak loudly
It's not crazy, it's a technique! By repeating information out loud, you memorize it much faster. This technique works the same as explaining it to someone else (only that "someone" is you).
5. Drink water, please - not just coffee
Water is more important than any other liquid. We know you drink 3 coffees an hour, but your brain needs water to function properly. Hydration helps you focus and not feel like you're out of it during a test.
Dark chocolate :)
It has antioxidants, improves blood circulation, and gives you a concentration boost. Don't feel guilty about a piece of dark chocolate before you start studying - your brain will thank you.
