Kim-Kanye Divorce: Why the couple broke up and what is expected to happen to the

After months of speculation, Kim Kardashian divorced Kanye West after six years of marriage, on February 19th. While the 40-year-old "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and the 43-year-old rapper have not yet publicly confirmed the news themselves, many followers are asking: What happened, what went wrong?

According to E! News, the pair simply began to distance themselves over time until the separation came. A source added that "Kim tried to give her a chance" and that "she sought divorce last year but now was the time to move on". Other sources say there was no betrayal and "no one did anything wrong".

A separate source told People that Kanye is said to believe that his recent candidacy for president adversely affected their marriage, giving him the "final blow".

"Before that, there was hope. After that, no. It cost him his marriage," the insider explained.

Kim and Kanye got engaged in the spring of 2012, before getting engaged a year later during Kim's 33rd birthday party. In May 2014, they did the official things by getting married. The couple's separation is said to be "friendly" and Kim is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their children, which Kanye also agrees to.

Kim and Kanye are the parents of 4 children, North, 7 years old, Saint, 5 years old, Chicago, 3 and Psalm, 1 year old.
