Selena Gomez says there's a good reason why her voice sounds different now than it used to. The singer answered a fan question about her voice changing over the years in an Instagram Live video.
“I guess what I mean is that sometimes things happen,” she said. “I get weird. My throat swells up sometimes. That’s all.”

Selena also started to give another explanation, but interrupted the sentence:
"Sometimes when I'm in... forget it. There's no excuse, I don't really care."

She thanked her followers for their sincerity and dedication:
"I like that you're honest with me on live. I really appreciate it."
The singer, 33, has been open about her ongoing health issues, particularly her battle with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that can cause swelling and inflammation, affecting the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.

Gomez has also revealed that other effects of Lupus include weight changes caused by her treatment. That same year, she spoke about her weight changes during an episode of the Apple TV+ series “Dear…”:
"My weight was constantly fluctuating due to certain medications. And of course, people spread the word… looking for anything to get me down."

Selena has also been open about her aesthetic transformations, sharing all the cosmetic procedures she's had. After much speculation about plastic surgery, she said she only had Botox.
Her fans praised her for her honesty and courage in speaking openly about her health issues and voice changes.
