Summer months may seem like vacations, beach, sun and fun, but for a large group of students, often this is the time of the second season or preparation for the fall exams. Due to the high temperatures and endless posts of friends from the beach, it becomes several times more difficult to concentrate on exams.
However, there are some ways that will help you give your best and be totally focused during this time.
First determine the time when you are most relaxed and have less distractions around you. For some this morning is breakfast, for others it is late at night.
30-minute rule
Our brain processes and stores information effectively the first and last 15 minutes. So any information received between this time frame will not be in long-term terms in your memory. Read / learn for 30 minutes and take a short break. This way you cut the whole curriculum somewhat by dividing it into 30 minutes and taking a few breaks (5-10 minutes) in between.
Work table
The biggest waste of time during the season is trying to learn lying down. You cannot read university curricula as novels, as the result will not be satisfactory. Sit at a desk and try to get rid of distractions (turn off the TV, put the phone in the next room).
Lastly, don't forget the basic rules:
- Keep notes of what you learned from the process.
- Look at the theses of the past years.
- Seek help from a lecturer or a good student if you do not understand something.
- Eat well.
- Give yourself small rewards when you complete a certain task.
Remember that a grade is not crucial to your life, or your future. Whether or not you pass an exam, if you don?t get the grade you think of or didn?t get where you wanted to go, none of this should make you less valuable in your eyes.
