George and Amal Clooney have officially obtained French citizenship, after expressing concerns about raising their children in Hollywood.
The new legal status of the couple and their 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, was made public in an official French government bulletin.
George Clooney, 64, and Amal Clooney, 47, bought a farm in the south of France worth about $8.3 million in 2021, according to Hello! magazine.

The family has been living in France since 2021, when the Clooneys moved to their rural estate. The actor spoke openly about this lifestyle in an interview with Esquire, published in October.
“We are very lucky,” he said. “We live on a farm in France. A big part of my childhood was spent on a farm and, as a child, I hated the idea of ??living there. But now, for my children, it is different.”
"Now they're not on their iPads all the time," Clooney continued. "They eat dinner with adults and have to pick up their own plates from the table. They have a much better life."

The actor said he was "concerned" about raising children in Los Angeles, due to Hollywood culture and the lack of privacy.
“In France, people just don't care about fame,” he explained.
"I don't want my kids walking down the street worrying about the paparazzi," Clooney added. "I don't want them to be compared to other celebrity kids."

Clooney has previously spoken about his desire to live in France, in a radio interview this month.
“I love French culture, your language, even though I'm still bad at it after more than 400 days of courses,” he joked, according to the Guardian.
He stressed that for him and Amal, the children's privacy is essential.
“They don't take pictures of the kids here,” he said. “There are no paparazzi lurking at the school gates. That's the number one thing for us.”

In October, the actor also shared that he feels like he's in a "quiet phase" of his life.
“I love what I do for a living, I have great friends,” he told People magazine. “I spend time with the people I love, and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to spend so much time with my family later in life.”
