Kate Winslet has revealed that her first intimate experiences during her adolescence were with girls, stressing that at that time in her life she was "not particularly formed in any way".

On the "Team Deakins" podcast, the 50-year-old actress revealed that her first intimate experiences as a teenager were "with girls." Reflecting on her role in the film "Heavenly Creatures," in which she and Melanie Lynskey play two teenagers with an obsessive friendship, Winslet said that her early relationships with girls helped her understand and interpret the incredibly intense bond between the two characters.
“I’m going to share something I’ve never shared before. Some of my first intimate experiences as a young teenager were actually with girls,” she said. “I had kissed a few girls and I had kissed a few boys, but I wasn’t particularly well-rounded in either direction.”

Winslet added that at that stage in her life she was very curious and that she deeply understood the intense connection between the two girls in the film. She said that she was immediately drawn into their emotional world, which later turned into something destructive for both of them, as the characters had great insecurities and vulnerabilities.
The 1994 film "Heavenly Creatures," directed by Peter Jackson, was the role that launched Kate Winslet onto the big screen. She then starred in major projects like "Sense and Sensibility" and "Hamlet," before becoming a global star with the 1997 film "Titanic," in which she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

Kate Winslet is married to Edward Abel Smith and is the mother of three children. She has a 12-year-old son with her current husband, a 25-year-old daughter from her marriage to Jim Threapleton, and a 22-year-old son from her marriage to Sam Mendes.

The actress has always been very private about her personal life and Hollywood romances. In an interview with WSJ. Magazine in 2015, she said that no one really knows what happened in her personal life and why her marriages didn't last, adding that she's proud of her silence.
