What is Hollywood's favorite season? The Oscars, of course!

As the race for the coveted golden statues enters its most intense phase, "Sinners" and "One Battle After Another" have emerged as the main favorites so far, alternating as the most nominated films by various award organizations such as the Critics Choice Association and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes).

However, this year's awards season looks extremely open: even the most experienced analysts are hesitant to make premature predictions about the winners.

Some key dates to remember:

– Critics Choice Awards air on January 4th 

– The Golden Globes air on January 11th

– The Actor Awards (formerly SAG Awards) are on March 1st

– The Oscars end the season on March 15th 

Here are 30 movies you should have on your radar this awards season (in no particular order):

“Avatar: Fire and Ash”

The third installment of James Cameron's epic saga continues the story of Jake and Neytiri on Pandora, as they face a new and dangerous tribe of Na'vi called the Ash People.

 "Avatar" has traditionally been successful at the Oscars, while James Cameron himself is one of the most decorated directors of his generation.

"Frankenstein"

Oscar Isaac (the director) is instantly recognizable in this dark take on the classic story, but Jacob Elordi is almost unrecognizable transformed as Frankenstein's monster under full-body prosthetics.

Guillermo del Toro (screenwriter) is well-loved by award voters and the film has created a huge buzz after its release on Netflix.

"Hamnet"

Perhaps the saddest film of the year, but also one of the best. Jessie Buckley delivers a remarkable performance as Agnes, opposite Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare.
The film explores love, family, and the devastating loss that inspired the creation of “Hamlet.”

“Jay Kelly”

George Clooney plays a famous actor on an existential journey through Europe, accompanied by his loyal manager, played by Adam Sandler.

A reflective comedy-drama from Noah Baumbach, with strong acting awards potential.

“Marty Supreme”

Timothée Chalamet is the early favorite for Best Actor as Marty Mauser, an ambitious table tennis player in New York. Gwyneth Paltrow also appears in the film as a retired actress.

“No Other Choice”

A gritty South Korean drama that criticizes the dark side of capitalism. Lee Byung-hun plays a desperate businessman who decides to eliminate the competition in the most extreme way possible.

"One Battle After Another"
