A few hours after the United States attacked Venezuela and captured Nicolás Maduro, US President Donald Trump published a photo of himself on the social network Truth Social aboard a ship blindfolded.

The photo quickly spread online, not only for Maduro's subdued appearance, but also for his attire, a gray Nike Tech tracksuit.
Nike Tech jackets, pants, and suits have been the subject of discussion in recent months, as a trend on social media has encouraged guys to ditch this style of clothing and replace it with slightly thicker, zip-up shirts. This is because the latter are considered more elegant.
A TikTok user's video, posted in November last year, claiming that Nike Tech was out of fashion, managed to garner around 30 million views within a month.
Maduro's attire distracted attention from political developments, and that photo of him became a source of memes and videos on social media.
According to Google Trends, the term "Nike Tech" saw a significant increase in Google searches on Saturday morning, January 3, immediately after Trump's post on Truth Social.
On TikTok and Instagram, many posts that include Maduro's photo have comments that poke fun at his attire, such as: "Why are you wearing Nike Tech, dude?" and "He doesn't know that quarter-zips are in fashion right now."
Other posts even speculated that the outfit might have been chosen intentionally. However, sales of the Nike suit have increased significantly and the marketing team is likely celebrating.
