I was waiting at the bus stop. Here, next to me, sat an elderly gentleman with his grandson. The child began to insist on an ice cream. The grandfather refused. The child began to beg and called his father. “Take it, my son.”
If I had to analyze the situation as a twenty-year-old adult, objectively, I would say that you can't deprive a child of his desires. He's small, he can't grow up brokenly at that age. These are the children who grow up full of self-confidence. For them, life has always been good; they've gotten everything they've asked for. All it took was to stomp your feet on the ground two or three times in anger and shed a few tears, screaming at the top of your lungs. How simple it seemed.
If the little child inside me were to answer, it would say: "Let it go! Let wishes come true less often. Let us listen to a song less often, let us eat a dessert less often, let us go out less often." It is that emotion of accomplishment that keeps your soul alive. The one that fills you with hope and desire to continue.
I remember those moments from my childhood. What a thrill it was to hear your favorite song on TV - the sound echoing through the sky! Those three minutes made you happy, and the endless hours of waiting to hear it again were part of the beauty. If you listen to the same melody all day, it becomes a noise to your ears.
Or that excitement when the holidays were approaching. You'll finally be able to enjoy sweets! I know that if you eat them all day, they'll make your stomach churn and upset.
What kept a person alive was the path, the waiting, the hope, and all those confusing fears; it was never the destination.
