Cases of teenagers with knives or involved in violent conflicts have long been reported by the police. But there must always be an "outrageous" event for someone to react. Our society chooses to be silent, not to intervene until it is too late. And when the event goes viral, it's more about clicks than awareness. And what do we need in these cases "reactions of VIPs"?
Why can minors freely buy knives, alcohol and drugs? Why are these "weapon" substances also used in schools, where they are supposed to be protected? Why is there no control? Children are left at the mercy of a system that does not educate and does not support them, while the negative influence from outside increases day by day.
Today's music, virality on social networks and violent trends have become part of their everyday life. Lyrics that glorify drugs, violence and hatred spread a clear message: this is the way to be "cool". And while they grow up with this mentality, the lack of a positive alternative leaves them without direction.
What is more disturbing is the lack of hope. A large proportion of young people are growing up believing that the only way to escape is to leave the country. Emigration is served to them as the only salvation, a "solution" that promises them everything and leaves those who remain with the void of a future without perspective, where the biggest dream is to leave.
This tragic event should be a moment of reflection for all of us. It is not enough to just react when tragedies happen. We must take responsibility and build a society that provides security, education and support for the new generation. Because if we don't act now, who knows how many more lives will be lost before it's too late.
