When it comes to exes, Taylor Swift always knows how to stir up trouble. The singer recently released the music video for "Opalite," the second single from her 12th album, "The Life of a Showgirl," and fans are convinced: the messages are no coincidence.
In the 90s-themed video, Taylor appears alongside actor Domhnall Gleeson in a story that is as absurd as it is symbolic. She "replaces" the absence of a partner with... a large rock, while Gleeson does the same with a small cactus.
And yes, the internet immediately caught on to the metaphor.

According to fans, the rock represents Taylor's ex-partner, Joe Alwyn, while the cactus symbolizes her fiancé Travis Kelce's ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole. A comparison that's obvious: Taylor has previously said that she bore the "weight" of her relationship with Alwyn, while cacti, no matter how much you love them, only hurt you, as is alleged to have happened with Kayla Nicole and Travis Kelce.

In another scene, Swift sprays herself with a cleanser called Opalite, which promises better relationships. A clear hint that she felt the need to fix herself in her relationship with Joe Alwyn.
But the climax comes at the end. Taylor and Gleeson "come together", while the message appears on the screen:
"The stone and the cactus were married in a small, intimate ceremony after meeting through Opalite."

And immediately after it:
“Trash remains trash.”
The song's lyrics seem to go even further. In one verse, Swift sings:
"I couldn't understand why you felt lonely/
It was true [love] for you, while she was always on the phone.”
Fans immediately linked this to Kayla Nicole, especially after an old video of Travis Kelce resurfaced, where he complained that his partner was always on the phone.
There are also hints that Kelce's ex-girlfriend was more interested in fame than the relationship, something Swift has often touched on in her lyrics.
For those who missed the previous chapters: Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn were together for six years, from 2017 to 2023, in a very private relationship. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole had an on-again, off-again relationship between 2017 and 2022.

Today, the story is completely different. Taylor and Travis are engaged, he proposed in August 2025, and they are planning their wedding.
However, Taylor's obsession with attacking exes through her texts doesn't end, quite the opposite.
