UN warns Gaza is now 'uninhabitable'
The United Nations has described Gaza as "uninhabitable" three months into Israel's war with Hamas, warning that a public health disaster is unfolding.
UN humanitarian aid chief Martin Griffiths said Gaza's 2.3 million residents face "daily threats to their very existence" as the world watches.
He said tens of thousands of people, mostly women and children, have been killed or injured, and families are sleeping in the open as temperatures drop.

Nepal bans citizens from working in Russia or Ukraine after army deaths
Nepal's government has banned its citizens from traveling to Russia or Ukraine for employment after 10 young men were killed and dozens more reported missing during the fighting, mostly in the Russian military.
More than 200 soldiers from Nepal are believed to have enlisted in the Russian army and more than 100 of them are missing. A smaller number are believed to be fighting in the Ukrainian army.
Israel tries to appease the US with proposals on Gaza; Blinken goes to the Middle East
Israeli officials are trying to head off growing anger in Washington ahead of a potentially awkward meeting between US diplomat Antony Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The US has offered support to Israel since the war with Hamas broke out three months ago, but is seeking some concessions from Netanyahu to ease regional tensions and help avert a wider conflict in the Middle East.
Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, arrived in Turkey on Friday to begin a week-long tour of the Middle East. During the visit to Israel, Blinken is expected to press Netanyahu to do more to protect civilians in Gaza.
