Ukrainians gather to remember 39th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster
Ukrainians gathered on Saturday to honor the victims and cleanup crews of the worst nuclear disaster in history, Chernobyl, during a ceremony held in the northern city of Prypyat.
Prypyat, now a ghost town, formerly served the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The event, which marked the 39th anniversary of the 1986 disaster, was attended by plant employees, colleagues of the victims, survivors, their relatives and government officials.

"We discussed a lot one-on-one. Hoping for results on everything we covered," Zelenskyy said in a post on X on Saturday. "A very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results," he concluded, thanking the US president.
Shortly after arriving in Rome on Friday, Trump said on social media that Ukraine and Russia should meet for "very high-level talks" to end Moscow's all-out war, now in its fourth year.
