October, 2014: Big Bang
In a speech to the Academy of Sciences, the Pope put an end to pseudo-theories of creation, emphasizing that the theory of the creation of the world according to science, the Big Bang, is not against the Creator, on the contrary they are compatible with each other. “When we read about Creation in Genesis, we risk imagining God as a magician with a magic wand who is able to do everything. June, 2016: The Church must apologize to the LGBT+ community
“I repeat what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says: They must not be discriminated against, they must be respected and accompanied in a pastoral way,” the Pope said at a conference on the papal plane as he returned from Armenia. “The Church must ask for forgiveness because many times it has not behaved properly [and] when I say the Church, I mean Christians! Në një intervistë asokohe, Papa rrëfeu se ndonjëherë i ndodhte të ndihej bosh dhe se kishte momentet e tij të errëta, por përsëri kërkonte ndihmën e Zotit për t’i kaluar. I pyetur nëse i kishte ndodhur të dyshonte ndonjëherë në thirrjen e tij, u shpreh: “Njeriu nuk mund të rritet nëse nuk kalon sfida apo momente dyshimi në jetën e tij. Madje dhe ndryshimi biologjik i njeriut është një krizë më vete apo jo? Procesi i kalimit nga fëmijëria në maturim. E njëjta gjë ndodh dhe me fenë”. Papa u shpreh se ndihej njëri si gjithë të tjerët, kishte mëkatuar dhe kishte patur momentet e tij të dobëta. “Nuk më pëlqejnë kur më idealizojnë, pasi idealizimi është formë e fshehur e agresionit.”
Maj, 2018: Homoseksualiteti u krijua dhe dhurua nga Zoti
Një mbijetues i abuzimit seksual nga një klerik deklaroi se Papa Françesku i tha se Zoti e bëri gay dhe e donte. Juan Carlos Cruz, i cili foli privatisht me Papën në lidhje me abuzimin që i shkaktoi një pedofil famëkeq në Kili, tha se biseda arriti deri te seksualiteti i tij sepse peshkopët në Amerikën Latine e përdorën kundër tij dhe e bënë të dukej pervers dhe gënjeshtar. “Më tha, ‘Juan Carlos, fakti që je gay nuk ka rëndësi. Zoti të bëri të tillë dhe të do të tillë. Për mua s’ka rëndësi. Papa të do kështu si je. Duhet të jesh i lumtur me veten tënde,’” tha Cruz për gazetën spanjolle El País. Zëdhënësi i Vatikanit asokohe nuk konfirmoi nëse deklarata e Cruz i përputhej kontekstit dhe bisedës me Papën.
Shkurt, 2019: Priftërinjtë kanë abuzuar seksualisht me murgeshat
Pas pyetjes së një gazetari në avionin që po merrte Papën nga një udhëtim në Emiratet e Bashkuara Arabe, ai pranoi se priftërinjtë dhe peshkopët kanë sulmuar seksualisht murgershat. “Kishte priftërinj dhe peshkopë gjithashtu që e bënin këtë”, pohoi Papa.
Tetor, 2020: Bashkimi civil brenda të njëjtit seks
Papa dha mbështetjen e tij më të qartë për bashkimet civile brenda të njëjtit seks. Ai tha: “Njerëzit homoseksualë kanë të drejtë të jenë në një familje.
