You've probably never heard the phrase "You should always trust your feet." However, according to one expert, you should probably start doing so.
A psychologist who focuses on helping survivors of narcissistic abuse shared the strange ways our feet can warn us that we are in a relationship with a narcissist.
1. You experience “pins and needles” or numbness
This happens in the presence of a narcissistic person. This is your body telling you that you are not safe. Even in moments of calm, there is no relaxation, only alertness.
2. Pain out of nowhere with no medical reason
Even if you are in perfect health, you may experience unexplained pain in your legs. You may feel burning and other strange sensations that were not there before your relationship with this person.
3. Constant tension
Expect that narcissists will follow suit with all that tension in your feet. Even when you're not doing anything, your feet may be unreasonably tired, swollen, or tense.
Since narcissists often make us feel so insecure, your body is constantly preparing for the next emotional blow because unpredictability has become part of your normal.
4. Experience a heavy, dragging sensation while walking
Not only will you feel more tired overall, but the exhaustion will also become apparent in your legs. It will feel like an effort to physically lift one foot in front of the other. When you're in a relationship that constantly tires you out, even the simplest tasks like walking become difficult.
You may feel all the emotional damage the relationship has done to you, but you can't seem to bring yourself to move on. This stuck feeling falls right at your feet.
Your feet reflect the internal battle between truth and trauma.
