Straight people often aspire to live a drama-free life, filled with authentic and honest people. Unfortunately, this mindset of theirs often inspires envy and dislike from those who cannot replicate those personality traits, usually resulting in them not knowing what to do with themselves.
Here are some things you can do to identify these lying people. How does this happen? Simple. Take the following actions and see if someone is playing tricks on you by setting your boundaries:
1. Ask people to repeat themselves
A liar in your circle is likely someone who makes passive-aggressive comments from time to time. When one fine day this person repeats their permanent joke, "Oh God, you're so impatient," simply say, "How did you say I'm sorry, I didn't hear you?" Repeating the same sentence will make them realize how ridiculous they seem.
2. Use silence as a weapon
One thing a person who constantly teases you likes is for you to keep playing and possibly get offended by his/her words. Use ignoring next time, this will make this person the one who gets offended next time.
3. Ask specific questions
Liars distort the truth so much that they even forget what they said 2 minutes ago, right? Is your colleague complaining to you for the thousandth time about how sick he was yesterday and giving you 1001 responsibilities? Ask him what his temperature was? Was he alone at home? What did he eat to feel better? What time did he fall asleep? When they start to extend their thinking time, put the responsibility first. :)
4. Remember every detail
Liars don't expect people to remember every single thing they say. Be different and be vigilant for a while. Lies have short legs and it won't be hard to make these people fall into their traps.
5. Refuse to choose a side
When liars come to you to tell you about a heated argument they had with someone, they will distort the events so desperately in search of your support. Don't give them this pleasure, it will drive the little liars crazy and will likely drive many of you away.
6. Show compassion towards them
It sounds contradictory to all of the above, but it must be understood that the need to lie comes from a need for these people to receive appreciation, to make themselves look good. Things are not always resolved in bitter ways, sometimes a small act done with the heart can make these people reflect.
