Mahmood & Blanco were crowned the winners of Sanremo 2022 after beating Elisa with the song "O forse sei tu" and Gianni Morandi with "Apri tutte le porte" in the superfinal. According to online polls, "Brividi" was the most popular. At a press conference shortly after their victory, they confirmed that they will represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. "We will definitely go to Eurovision, we are very pleased to be part especially because it will be held in Italy," said Blanco.
The song "Brividi" confesses the fear of lovers, mistakes and suffering, but also the happiness you feel when you are completely free. "Brividi" was different from many others and the public understood this.
Without watching the clip, "Brividi" conveys the feeling of a love that belongs to two people, beyond sex. The video can be considered a "coming out" for Mahmood, but the artist himself has never felt the need to give details about his sexuality, so we do not have to discuss this part.
"In 'Brividi' two people, belonging to two generations, love with the same passion and the same fear - the fear of making mistakes and the inadequate feeling, unable to convey what they feel - and the desire to love in freedom complete, giving all of themselves, ”Mahmood said.
"'Brividi' represents for me all those moments in which emotions reveal us about who we really are, they make us naked. The song shows a state of mind that can only be expressed by singing and shouting. It is a crossroads. "lives: mine, which finds a common ground with that of Mahmood and in a sense with that of everyone, because at any age, feelings, especially love, make us fragile and happy at the same time," he added. Blanco.
"Brividi" has an important message, that of freedom, which is a universal theme; of the freedom of love for two people, whoever they may be.
Mahmood will perform again at Eurovision after the song "Soldi", which was ranked second at Eurovision 2019. Blanco is a revelation of 2021 in Italy. At just 18 years old, he has achieved more than a million copies sold and has produced 25 platinum records with only one album released, "Blu celeste".
In online comments, not a few people write that Italy, after the victory with Måneski, can win Eurovision for the second year in a row.
