
The cause of death of Catherine O'Hara has been determined. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, actress Catherine O'Hara died of a pulmonary embolism after suffering from rectal cancer, TMZ reports.
Explanation: Pulmonary embolism is a condition in which a blood clot blocks the blood vessels in the lungs, preventing normal blood flow. This risk can be increased by rectal cancer. Rectal cancer is a tumor that forms in the last part of the large intestine and can spread to other organs if left untreated.
Catherine O'Hara passed away on January 30 at the age of 71. The news was confirmed by her manager to Variety. The actress's representatives said only that she had passed away after a short battle with illness, but no details were released about the cause.

The actress was best known for her role as Kevin's (Macaulay Culkin) mother in the "Home Alone" films and Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice." Her career began to take off again in the last 10 years with the series "Schitt's Creek."


She won an Emmy Award for her role in this series, as well as for her work on the Apple TV series "The Studio."
