The Government of Kosovo has approved the decision that obliges gastronomy establishments to serve customers tap water if they are supplied by the public water supply.
Minister of Health, Dr. Rifat Latifi presented to the government cabinet the standards for the quality of water for consumption to protect people's health.
"In order to establish normative standards for the quality of water intended for human consumption, I propose the approval of the decision that in cases where gastronomy facilities are supplied by the public water supply, the business owner cannot prevent customers from being served with tap water" , Latifi said.
In cases where businesses are not supplied by the public water supply, they must implement the water quality monitoring plan and be provided with the water quality certificate from the Institute of Public Health in Kosovo. Minister Latifi's proposal was approved.
"Shot decision. Although it may seem like a small decision to someone, it has a direct impact on the citizen's pocket," some citizens told Euronews Albania.
"It was not something new for us as we have always served water. The water is drinkable, we have always served it. It's very simple, the expenses are minimal," the manager of a bar, Fanol Duli, told Euronews Albania.
