Duffy made public the story of the drug, kidnapping for several weeks and rape. She hopes her story will help others who have suffered the same.
Through an Instagram post, the singer said she was drugged at a restaurant for her birthday, held hostage at her home and then sent abroad.
The 35-year-old, whose real name is Aimee Duffy, spoke for the first time about the traumatic event in February and told the whole story on her official website.
She writes: ?It was my birthday, I was drugged in a restaurant and then drugged for another four weeks and sent abroad. I don?t remember getting on a plane, I came to my senses when I was in a car.
"I was put in a hotel room and the criminal raped me. I remember the pain and exhaustion of maintaining consciousness after it happened. He stayed with me and for another day, he did not see me, he told me to follow him. I was somewhat aware and withdrawn. He could have gotten rid of me. "
She says she does not know where she found the strength to face those days and added that the criminal threatened to kill her.
Duffy shared her story with others because "we live in a painful world." She added: ?I hope it comforts you, makes you feel less ashamed if you are lonely.
"I am not ashamed of anything that has hurt me. I believe that if you speak from the heart, the hearts of others will respond.
"No matter how dark my story may be, I speak from the heart, for my life and for the lives of others who have suffered the same."
Duffy said he escaped, but did not say how he managed. He added, "He doesn't remember how he got home."
She said she was initially afraid to go to the police, but told her case to an officer after someone threatened to kick her in front of her.
Duffy added that he was in danger of committing suicide after the event and that he had spent almost ten years alone. Now he feels ready to throw back everything that happened. She thanked the psychologist who helped her with the trauma.
Duffy hopes to release music again, but added: "I doubt I'm the same person as before."
