A new study recently found that women who date younger partners are happier and more sexually satisfied than women who date men around the same age.
Professors of psychology from London Metropolitan University recruited 24 women in their study, the results of which were published in the journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy.
The study found that the women who took part in the study fell into two different categories, disproving the stereotype that age-gap relationships are emotionally futile and fueled only by physical desires.
"This study challenges the preconceived notion that women in relationships with younger men are less fulfilled or more successful than those in relationships with same-age partners," said lead researcher Samantha Banbury.
The team admitted that they only surveyed a small sample of women and now hope to expand the number of women included in their research to see if they have the same approaches. "Society tends to look at women who date younger men more critically than men who date younger women," Banbury asserted.
There needs to be more research looking at women who date younger men to understand more about the qualities of these women compared to those who date men of a similar age group.
