Brad Pitt has filed a motion in court to gain access to his ex-wife Angelina Jolie's private communications in preparation for an upcoming trial related to the ownership of French winery Château Miraval.
According to legal documents obtained by Page Six, the actor has asked the court to compel Alexei Oliynik, a representative of Stoli Group, the company that bought Jolie's shares in Miraval, to testify and hand over communications he had with the actress.
Pitt had attempted to reach an out-of-court settlement with Oliynik in June, but that effort failed. Oliynik has refused to cooperate, arguing that as a Swiss citizen he is not required to travel to California to testify. Pitt's lawyers, however, dispute that justification, noting that testimony can be given remotely, from the witness's current residence.
In the lawsuit filed on June 30, Pitt alleges that Oliynik acted under orders from Stoli Group CEO Yuri Shefler, and describes him as a “key witness” in the legal case. The court’s decision on the motion is still pending, and a formal trial date has not been set.
Sources close to Pitt say that the request for Oliynik's testimony is not just about him, but about the entire Stoli Group, which they accuse of deliberately avoiding cooperation with the court and of persistent refusal to implement legal decisions.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both purchased Château Miraval during their time together. After their split, they continued to have disagreements over ownership and management.
As a result, Jolie sold her share, an action that Pitt sees as vindictive and that led to a legal battle that has been ongoing since 2022. This is because Pitt says that they had a tacit agreement that neither would sell their share without the other's approval. According to him, this decision was an unauthorized, emotionally motivated action and detrimental to the business they built together.
The couple met in 2004, married in 2014, and divorced in 2016, with the finalization of the divorce process only occurring in December 2024.
Pitt is currently dating Ines de Ramon, but sources close to the actor claim he still regrets the way his marriage to Jolie ended. He believes the split has negatively affected his relationship with their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
