Meet Shalom Nchom or otherwise Shalom Blac, a 23-year-old from Nigeria. When she was 9 years old, as a result of an accident in her parents' shop, Shalom was burned with hot oil. She suffered severe burns on her head, face, and neck.
In addition to physical health, Shalom later faced extreme bullying in school. Harassment became so constant that at one point she tried to kill herself.
"I remember one day when I took a knife, went to the toilet, and wondered why people did not like me. Why do I call it a monster? "She said in an interview with Cosmopolitan.
Shalom was inspired by Talia Joy, a young girl who was facing cancer. So she decided to open her YouTube channel, where she posted her videos continuously when making makeup.
"My mother always told me that I had a purpose. I was not accidentally burned. God had another plan for me [...] Turn things you do not like to yourself in something beautiful and one day nobody will tell you anything. Do what we can to make you feel happy. "
Currently Shalom Black has more than 667,000 Instagram followers and more than 1 million and 223,000 subscribers on its YouTube channel . The blogger's story is a reminder of loving yourself, no matter what the circumstances.
