Dua Lipa has spoken about the mental health problems she has encountered after becoming a victim of online bullying.
In a new interview with Attitdue, the 25-year-old discussed the ridicule she has received over the years, especially after her appearance at the 2019 Grammys, during which she performed a mix of "Masseducation" and "One Kiss".
"I experienced a lot of bad feelings at the end of the publication of my song and it all made me anxious and upset. "I felt like I wasn't good enough and I didn't feel like I shouldn't be here."
Even after the Grammys, some people kept writing:
"No, he did not deserve it at all."
Last year, the singer won the "Best Young Artist" award and "Best Dance Song".
"There were so many things. "One of them, when I was dancing and people were saying, 'Oh, she doesn't have a stage scene,' while they had never been to one of my shows, nor had they ever seen me perform. '" Dua.
"People would take a small piece of video and run with it everywhere until something big happened."
Dua Lipa, who is currently in a relationship with model Anwar Hadid, added that for a while, all this internet noise started "affecting her mental health".
"I climbed on stage and if someone was filming me, I thought, 'They are filming me and then they have something to laugh at me with.'
Although the singer says she had a hard time coping with "internet hatred", now she is grateful for the experience:
"I became much stronger and much more confident after that. Now I know what I'm good at. "I know how to be good at what I do and I know how much work it takes to be good."
Elsewhere in the interview, the singer said she previously felt like she had to justify her place in the music industry.
