Despite being acquitted of the most serious charges, Sean “Diddy” Combs will not be eligible for parole. That was ruled by federal Judge Arun Subramanian on July 2, just hours after the jury found Diddy guilty of two lesser charges – transporting for the purpose of prostitution – but acquitted him of sex trafficking and organized crime charges.
The judge argued that Diddy's lawyers failed to show that he "poses no danger to anyone," citing a violent incident against a woman in June 2024, at which time he was already under investigation.
Despite defense efforts to have him released on a $1 million bond (supported by his mother, sister, and ex-partner), Combs will remain in custody until his final sentencing on October 3. If convicted of the maximum, he could face up to 20 years in prison, 10 years on each count.
According to his lawyers, the sentence could range from 21 to 27 months, while he has already spent 10 months in jail in Brooklyn.
During the 29-day trial, 34 witnesses were called, including household names like Kid Cudi and Dawn Richard, while the key witnesses were his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who was pregnant during the hearings, and another woman who testified under the pseudonym "Jane."
Both testified to so-called "Freak Offs" or "Hotel Nights," which involved arranged sex acts with sex workers. Cassie also alleged that Diddy raped her during their 11-year relationship.
Although the criminal trial has ended, Diddy continues to face several civil lawsuits for sexual abuse, which he has consistently denied.
