Angelina Jolie, a celebrity without a presence on social media, joined Instagram for a major reason. Jolie posted the letter of an Afghan teenage girl, whose real name and whereabouts are unclear.
"Now, the people of Afghanistan are not communicating on social media and are not expressing themselves freely," Jolie said in a caption. "So I came to Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those across the globe fight for basic human rights. "
In the letter, the girl writes about the fear that the return of the Taliban will end her school life, saying that "we are all prisoners again".
"Before the Taliban entered ... we all had rights, we were able to defend our rights freely. But when they come, we are all afraid of them and we think all our dreams are gone."

In the post, Jolie writes:
"Unë isha në kufirin e Afganistanit dy javë para 11 shtatorit, ku takova refugjatë afganë që kishin ikur nga talebanët. Kjo ndodhi njëzet vjet më parë. Është e dhimbshme të shikosh shohësh të zhvendosen përsëri nga frika dhe pasiguria që ka pushtuar vendin e tyre. Të shpenzosh kaq shumë kohë dhe para, të kesh derdhur gjak dhe jetë të humbura vetëm për të arritur këtu, është një dështim pothuajse i pamundur për t'u kuptuar."
Pas tërheqjes së SHBA-së nga Afganistani, talebanët morën me shpejtësi pushtetin, duke shkaktuar panik në vend. Ata kanë drejtuar Afganistanin në vitet 1996-2001 përmes një regjimi shtypës, sidomos për gratë.
