After numerous reactions to his viral statement, Albi Lushi has decided to clarify that everything was "just a joke" and that he does not really believe that women "become easy" after consuming alcohol. In a new statement to "Pa Manual" by Andale, he says:
"I don't believe you're one of those girls who has to drink alcohol to become tough or easy. I don't believe there are tough or easy girls or boys. I believe there are girls and boys who feel or don't feel, love or don't love. People who know me well know that I play with the bat."
So, according to him, the comment that caused this whole debate was simply a spur-of-the-moment joke in a table conversation, made to entertain those present, without knowing that he was being recorded.
But is this a valid justification?
It's not the first time that such statements have been "explained" later as jokes. In fact, this is a familiar formula: say something problematic, wait for the public's reaction, and if it gets out of hand, retract it by calling it humor.
In this case, the dilemma is: does the fact that he did not know he was being recorded really change the meaning of the statement? Because, if this was an opinion that he shared in a narrow circle, the situation is much worse.
The truth is that a joke is not always innocent. A joke about women and alcohol, in a context where abuse and emotional manipulation are real problems, is not something that can be dismissed with a “you misunderstood.” After all, humor cannot work without a sense of responsibility.
