Don’t get me wrong, I die for the #SingleLife (Single Life) culture. I like independence, songs that show how strong I am, etc., etc. Today, I read that by 2030, 45% of American women aged 25-44 will be single, according to a study. Friends tell me I'm a "comfortable single" and I believe that. I am in my best shape. I like loneliness, not to give any of my popcorn and have the whole blanket for myself, but damn it, sometimes you get tired of being single and you think sharing popcorn with someone is not that bad.
Yes, I really want a relationship. Why is it so wrong? Why should it sound like "betrayal" to all bachelors around the world. How can I say this out loud without sounding like anti-feminist?
I know how privileged we are to live in this time. Women are no longer forced to marry and can do very well on their own. However, this does not mean that I do not want a partner to drive late at night, or send me memes on Instagram or someone with whom to escape the weekend away from the city.
I adore privacy, but I got tired of doing things alone and more, I got tired of the fact that I have to claim that "I don't need anyone and all the other clichés". Of course I do not need anyone, but that does not mean I do not want to fall in love with someone.
I think I am not the only one who feels this way and there is nothing wrong with that. But at least, let's not pretend to be a group of "very strong men and women who do not need anyone" because it is tedious and pointless.
It seems to have become fashionable to behave as if "you have no feelings", "you are heartless" or "too busy making money to pursue love". You know what never goes out of style? Love. Do not give up until you find it!
