A recent article published in the British media outlet The Sun sheds light on the reasons why many married men choose to cheat, even when they are not unhappy with their marriage.
Journalist Mel Fallowfield, for the purpose of investigating, registered on a dating site dedicated to married men seeking extramarital affairs. According to the platform's data, it has around 1.5 million users and experiences a significant increase in registrations, especially after the summer holidays, a period often associated with tensions in couples.
What unites men who cheat?
During several meetings organized for this investigation, a common element was observed: most men did not want to end their marriage. On the contrary, they expressed that they loved and appreciated their wives.
However, the main reason that pushed them towards infidelity was the search for more excitement, passion and sexual intimacy, outside of the daily marital routine. For many of them, infidelity was seen as a way to "enliven" their personal lives, without disrupting the family balance.
In some cases, men expressed specific sexual interests or considered the extramarital affair as something separate from their family life, insisting that they did not want to "disturb" the marriage.
Is there a typical profile of a cheating man?
According to observations, there is no single pattern. The men came from different backgrounds and ages, some with children, some without, with different lifestyles. The only common point was their apparent devotion to their wives, despite their contradictory behavior.
It was also noted that many extramarital affairs take place between people who are both married, which shows that infidelity is not a behavior limited to men or a certain profile of people.
