Emmy Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, also known for her role in the series "Abbott Elementary," is married to Senator Vincent Hughes, but theirs is no ordinary marriage.
As the 68-year-old said in an interview, they each lead their own lives, freely pursuing their own desires and dreams – they even live in different houses so they can meet up whenever they want. At least in their case, this seems to be the secret to the longevity of their relationship:
"I'm very lucky. The man I married, Senator Vincent Hughes, has his own life. I have my own life. He has his own career, really. I have my own career, really. He has his own light. I have my own light. So when you look at me you don't think about my social status and so on.
He does what he likes and so do I. We even live in different houses. I go to see him when I want to. And when it's time to leave, I say goodbye, see you soon!
"I tell you one thing, life is good, it's perfect. I'm a really good woman," she said.
Now, the norms of how relationships "should" be are beginning to be questioned, and new models are being proposed that better suit each of us and our dynamics with our other half.
For example, a trend emerging on TikTok, which has been supported by Cameron Diaz, among others, is the idea of ??partners sleeping in the same house, but in different rooms, in order to respect their personal space.
