A few hours after the Gjilan / Gnjilane tragedy, authorities revealed the first details of the incident. The perpetrator is named Valdete Bllaca and from the Gjilan police records, the 45-year-old worked as a traffic policeman.
The killing of parents (Zeqir Bllaca, 70, Hanife Bllaca, 66) and brothers (Blerim Bllaca, 43, Fisnik Bllaca, 34) is said to have been caused by a serious mental illness. It is suspected that the 45-year-old initially killed her parents and then her two brothers and herself.
According to preliminary data, Bllaca's aggravated mental state was the cause of her dismissal from office recently. Residents were the first to alert authorities after hearing gunshots that claimed the lives of the family from Gjilan / Gnjilane.
