SMA is a muscle-weakening disease. It affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, causing loss of the ability to walk, eat, and even breathe.
Jesy gave birth to twin girls, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, on May 15, 2025, with partner Zion Foster. She said she initially didn't know how to express herself about their diagnosis.
In a video posted on Instagram, she explained that her mother noticed that the girls, who were born prematurely, weren't moving their legs much. She then became concerned because the twins weren't feeding properly.
After three to four months of countless visits, the girls were diagnosed with SMA Type 1, the most severe form of the muscular disease that can affect a baby. Jesy explained that this disease gradually “destroys the body’s muscles” and if not treated in time, the children may not reach the age of two.
She added that the girls have already received treatment and she is very grateful, as without it, they would have lost their lives.
