Although Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been out of the royal family for five years, King Charles III still holds fond memories of his youngest son's wedding. During the Christmas party at Clarence House, a photo of him walking Meghan down the aisle was placed in the background.
The black-and-white photo, placed in a frame, stood on a table next to a family portrait from Prince Louis' christening in 2018, featuring Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

King Charles, as is well known, took the place of Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, at her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, after he was unable to attend due to health issues. The grand ceremony was held at St. George's Chapel.

"My daughter looks beautiful and very happy," Thomas told a media outlet at the time. "I wish I could be there and I wish them all the love and happiness."
Last week, Meghan reportedly sent her condolences to her father after it was announced that he had had his leg amputated. Thomas remains in intensive care in the Philippines after a blood clot cut off his circulation and required life-saving surgery.

Meghan distanced herself from her father shortly before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. She accused him of lying to her about his communications with the media, following reports that he had staged photos for the paparazzi (he apologized in 2021, after their conflict was discussed during Meghan's interview with Oprah).
