Summer means adrenaline, beach and holidays. In short, longer and sunnier days, more laziness at work, while everyone's mind is on the typical adventures of the season. So far we are okay to think that summer is a good season to take advantage of work and career development.
You can have a smart solution by using this quiet season wisely as a chance to change your career and why not your job.
Not sure where to start? Here are five things you can try:
#1 Review your goals
Even though we're almost halfway through the year, it's never too late to revisit the goals you may have made back in January. Create some short-term plans that you can accomplish faster or change goals that make you more focused.
#2 Refresh your resume and LinkedIn profile
Something many of us are guilty of is only updating our CV and LinkedIn when we're ready to look for a new job. The disadvantage is that you forget more easily the things you have achieved, the trainings or seminars you may have attended a few months ago, and you only remember when you want to change jobs.
#3 Invest in professional skill
Take part in work activities, in events related to professions, it can be a course, a training, depending on the goals you have, you can be involved in such commitments, even during the summer.
#4 Add new acquaintances
Summer is an ideal season not only for new romances and acquaintances on the beach! You can join workgroups on Facebook/WhatsApp, you can make phone calls with colleagues or co-workers, you can go out for a drink on weekends to make new acquaintances. These recognitions can be a source of employment opportunities in the future.
#5 Take advantage of your free time
Leave work a little early because it's summer, there are long sunny days and restaurants and bars full of people. Use your free time to meet people, go to the gym, follow your passions where you can meet new people with whom you have common interests for work, projects, etc.
