Yesterday, the world received the most enthusiastic news it had been waiting to hear for a long time. An anti-Covid-19 vaccine, 90% effective. The first question that naturally arises is: Will Albania be able to provide it? When will this happen?
During an interview for Euroneës Albania, Minister Ogerta Manastirliu said that our country will have equal access to provide over 1 million doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Something like this will happen from the moment it is launched on the market.
"Pfizer / BioNTech is one of the companies that the instrument of COVAX, ie the Gavi alliance, for which the Albanian government has decided to prepay 1 million 130 thousand doses of vaccine, is part of the companies funded by this alliance and of course being part, we are part of accessing the safe vaccine at the moment it will be on the market.
"The Gavi Alliance, of which we are a part, together with dozens of other countries, ensures access to safe vaccine once it is on the market and is an equal access for all," said Manastirliu.
Pfizer and BioNTech said up to 50 million doses of the vaccine could be produced this year and another 1.3 billion doses in 2021.
As for the kits for quick tests, she added that they will act according to the mechanism provided by the European Union.
