Sarah Jessica Parker spoke openly about an old wound: the constant comments about her physical appearance and the impact they have had on her personal and professional life.
Although her career began as a child, SJP became a global icon in the late 90s when she landed the role of Carrie Bradshaw on the hit series "Sex and the City." The series ran for six seasons, was followed by two films, and later, an HBO sequel, "And Just Like That...".

But besides the bold styles, advanced themes of sex, and portrayal of life in New York, there is also a dark chapter behind the cameras for Sarah Jessica Parker.
In a recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, SJP admitted that criticism of her physical appearance was deeply hurtful.
“The discussions about my body and my appearance were the hardest,” she said. “They were things I couldn’t change and didn’t want to change because I had never thought of them as ‘problems.’ Then I would listen to them and think, ‘What? Did someone really say that?’”
She added that it was not a normal conversation between people, no one said these comments to her face to face.
The point that the actress said broke her emotionally was an article published by a well-known magazine, which had extremely offensive content about her appearance. It was a period when negative criticism came one after another.
“A friend mentioned to me that the magazine had written something really ugly about my appearance,” she recalls. “It felt like a kick in the soft spot. I didn’t understand why my appearance was a problem, or why anyone would get pleasure from insulting me. I called two of my friends and I was in tears. I was crying so hard, because it seemed like it was done on purpose, with malice.”
She admits that it was the only time she felt broken by the comments, but that it was an accumulation after an entire season of hurtful comments.
