Professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71. The news was announced by WWE, which said it was "deeply saddened by the loss of one of pop culture's most iconic figures."
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s thanks to his in-ring career and flamboyant personality that made him an international icon. With his famous catchphrase "say your prayers and eat your vitamins," he helped turn WWE into a global empire.
According to authorities in Clearwater, Florida, Hogan was found in critical condition and transported to the hospital, where he later died of natural causes.
His career included memorable rivalries with names like André the Giant and “Macho Man” Randy Savage. His move to WCW in the 1990s and transformation into “Hollywood Hogan” remain some of the most iconic moments in wrestling history.
However, his life has not been without controversy. In 2015, he was fired from WWE after a video was released in which he used racist language. He later publicly apologized for the statements he made.
Despite his ups and downs, Hulk Hogan remains one of the most important figures in wrestling and pop culture history. He leaves behind two children, Brooke and Nick, as well as his wife, Sky Daily.
