The Duke of Sussex claims the stress of legal action against the Mail on Sunday caused her to miscarry.
In the final three episodes of the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, Harry spoke about Meghan's lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday and Mail Online over the publication of her letter to her father, Thomas Markle.
"I believe my wife suffered a miscarriage because of what The Mail did. I saw it all. Now, we know absolutely that the miscarriage was caused by that - we certainly don't know," he said. "But given the stress it caused, the lack of sleep and the timing of the pregnancy, I can tell from what I saw, that the miscarriage was caused by what they were trying to do to her. "
In February 2021, Meghan won the lawsuit. She and her lawyers accused the tabloid of misusing private information, violating human rights and breaching personal data. The Mail on Sunday has repeatedly dealt with the figure of Meghan Markle by publishing/inventing different stories, centered on her father.
Meghan first spoke about the miscarriage in an essay for the New York Times titled "The Losses We Share" in which she wrote, among other things, "I knew, as I held my first child, that I was losing my second."
"I sat on the floor with Archie in my arms, listening to a lullaby to soothe us both, but the happy tune was a stark contrast to my feeling that something was wrong."
