Emma Stone just broke an Oscar record previously held by Meryl Streep with two nominations for the film "Bugonia."
Today, January 22, Emma Stone received a nomination for Best Actress for her role in the thriller film, and is also recognized as one of the film's producers for the nomination of "Bugonia" in the Best Picture category.
Emma Stone, 37, is now the youngest woman in history to achieve seven Oscar nominations during her career.
It was Meryl Streep who previously held this record for women, as she was 38 years old when she received her seventh nomination in 1988. However, Streep, 76, still holds the record for the most nominations in history for an actor or actress, with a total of 21 nominations (three of which she has won).
“Thank you to the Academy for these nominations and to everyone who poured their hearts into ‘Bugonia,’” Emma Stone said in a statement today. “None of this would exist without our director, Yorgos [Lanthimos]. I am forever grateful for our creative partnership and friendship.”
She continued:
"This recognition is shared with Jesse Plemons, who is incredibly brilliant, and with our amazing cast, crew, and producers. To be in the company of all these incredible nominations is a great honor and I am deeply grateful."

Stone earned her first nomination, for Best Supporting Actress for "Birdman," in 2015. She went on to win Best Actress for "La La Land" and "Poor Things," and in between those wins, she received another nomination for her supporting role in "The Favourite." As a producer of "Poor Things," Stone also received a nomination for Best Picture.
Other Oscar records were broken when the nominations were announced.
Ryan Coogler's "Sinners" received a total of 16 nominations, including Best Picture, breaking the record for most nominations for a single film. The previous records were held by "Titanic" (1997), "La La Land" (2016) and "All About Eve" (1950), each with 14 nominations.
Also, with his nomination for "Marty Supreme," Timothée Chalamet became the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to receive three Best Actor nominations. The star, 30, is also known for producing "Marty Supreme," which was nominated for Best Picture.
