Christopher Nolan's latest film, " Oppenheimer ," is the most talked about movie of the moment along with "Barbie," but eagle-eyed fans have noticed a mistake in a scene set in 1945, where J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy) stands among a crowd waving American flags — with the wrong number of stars.
"It was all good, but I'll be the guy complaining that they used 50 star flags in a scene set in 1945," wrote Twitter user Andy Craig.
In 1945, the American flag contained 48 stars, as Alaska and Hawaii had not yet become US states.
But one Twitter user had another theory: “I could argue that this was done on purpose as the color scenes were from Oppenheimer's point of view, while the black and white scenes were from another. This would have been a memory of Oppenheimer from his memory today that has 50 states on the flag.”
Oppenheimer tells the story of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who led the Manhattan Project, the research initiative that led to the production of the first nuclear weapons, during World War II.
The film explores the mind of the scientist, his ideologies, regrets, thoughts and how the state uses brilliant minds in its own interest. The man who was in charge of the "Manhattan Project" and who developed the world's first atomic bomb, rose into the sky and then crashed for a few moments, brutally to the ground.
