Evgeny Harizi, the icon who made a tremendous contribution to Albanian culinary, has died as a result of an incurable illness in Rochester, New York.
Evgeny Harizi, born in Pojan, Fier in 1939, completed his studies partly in Russia and then attended the University of Tirana as a Technologist of Social Food Technology. Later, he was appointed to the Social Food Enterprise where he worked as a technologist and at the same time exercised the profession of lecturer at the School of Social Food.
During his active years, Harizi published several cookbooks, such as "How to cook", "Domestic cookery", "1000 cooking recipes", "Cooking with vegetables and traditional Albanian dishes", etc., some of which have been reprinted times.
?A friend of my family donated this book to my mom in the late '70s, probably one of the rare copies that was in Kosovo at the time. My mum cooks well, a bit from Ohrid, but mainly because of this book. I remember as a kid, she cooked, I read the recipe, ?someone writes on the @Louge Silver page on Instagram. ?I had my first cookbook from her and I was still a kid. Master of Albanian culinary, ?adds another. "Her recipe book helps me whenever I want to make a traditional recipe," "It's not like this cookbook," are other comments praising Evgeny Hariz's contribution.
"If our mother cooked us, we ate at least one Mrs. Evgeny's recipe," someone wrote on @anabel_media's Instagram, while some others posted photos of books that, although they may be damaged on the cover, are stored by housewives as treasure .
Family condolences!
