A serious incident has occurred in London, after a young Albanian man, the nephew of the singer from Kosovo, Ganimete Abazi, lost his life after a knife attack in the south of the British capital.
Lorik Abazi, 22, from the Croydon area, was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning at Valley Retail Park, on Hesterman Way. Police were called at around 1.15am and found three young men at the scene with stab wounds.
Lorik was rushed to hospital, but unfortunately did not survive his injuries. Two other young men, both 21 years old, were also injured and were transported to hospital. One of them is still in critical condition, while the other has been arrested for involvement in the fight.
The Metropolitan Police have arrested a total of seven people in connection with the case:
- Two 25-year-old girls and a 28-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of murdering Lorik. One of the girls has been released on bail.
- Two 21-year-old boys arrested for involvement in the fight.
- Two other girls, 21 and 22 years old, also arrested for involvement in the fight, with one released on bail and the other in custody.
Authorities have stated that the incident is believed to have been isolated and investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances.
Family reaction
Lorik's family described him as "a caring, intelligent boy with a sense of humor and a bright future ahead of him." Their statement said his loss has left an irreplaceable void and that they are devastated.
Singer Ganimete Abazi, who was Lorik's aunt, reacted publicly on social media by sharing a photo of her nephew with the touching message:
"Life can sometimes be unfair and hit you where it hurts the most. Rest in peace, my grandson, my soul, for we will live with the pain of you, with the memories and the love you gave us. Ah, how hard it is to say goodbye, our Lorik."

The event has shocked not only the family and relatives, but also the Albanian community in Britain, while authorities continue their investigations to bring justice to the 22-year-old Albanian who tragically lost his life.
