Lizzo is being sued by three of her former ballerinas, who allege they were subjected to a hostile work environment and sexual harassment while on the dance team.
Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez are the ones who filed the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges they were "forced to endure sexually derogatory behavior" and "pressured to participate in sexually disturbing performances" between 2021 and 2023.
One of the dancers, Arianna Davis, was said to have been urged by the singer to "touch a nude performer's breasts" when they were at a club in Amsterdam's Red Light District in February. For fear of retaliation, it is said that she agreed, although she had expressed many times that she did not want to touch him.
Another former dancer claims her role on the team was questioned by the singer, who expressed "secret" concerns about the dancer's "weight gain" and pressured her to "explain her weight" as well reveal intimate personal details.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that dance team leader Shirlene Quigley pushed her Christian beliefs on the dancers and mocked them for having premarital sex. She is also accused of openly discussing the virginity of one of the former ballerinas.
The lawsuit alleges that black members of the dance troupe were "treated differently" from others. They were accused of being "lazy, unprofessional and had bad attitudes" — comments the lawsuit claims are often used "to demean and discourage" people of color.
The plaintiffs also allege that Lizzo and her team did not pay them fairly during Lizzo's European tour. They claim they were only offered 25% of their weekly salary while not performing on tour, while other performers received 50%, and they also claim they were told not to work on other projects while on tour.
