Spain has completed its most ambitious space project with the launch of the SpainSat NG II satellite from Cape Canaveral aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

This advanced secure communications satellite, built by Airbus, marks the culmination of the SPAINSAT NG program, placing Spain among the world leaders in space technology.

Together with its twin, SpainSat NG I, it will provide communications coverage for two-thirds of the globe and advanced protection against intrusions and cyberattacks.

Croatia reinstates military service as fears grow of war spillover from Ukraine

Croatia has reinstated compulsory military service for the first time since 2008, amid fears that the war in Ukraine could spread to Europe.

The young men will complete two months of basic military training and will be paid for this period.
