Zelenskyy says Ukraine is ready to give up ambitions to join NATO
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that Ukraine is ready to give up its goal of joining NATO in exchange for strong security guarantees from the West, during several hours of talks with US envoys in Berlin.
This constitutes a major change in Kiev's stance, as NATO membership has been a key pillar of its security strategy and is also included in the constitution.
The move fulfills one of Russia's main demands, while Ukraine continues to refuse to hand over its territories.
Hamas confirms killing of top commander in Israeli attack on Gaza
Hamas has confirmed that senior commander Raed Saad, head of its military production unit, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike near Gaza City, becoming the most senior figure eliminated since the ceasefire came into effect in October.
The attack left four dead and dozens injured, while Hamas described it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and warned of the right to respond.
Israel said Saad was one of the organizers of the October 7, 2023 attack and that he was killed in response to attacks against Israeli troops, amid mutual accusations of violating the ceasefire.

The race took place in extreme conditions in Antarctica, with temperatures around -15 degrees Celsius, strong winds and packed snow terrain.
