Ukraine attacks Druzhba oil pipeline, relations with Hungary and Slovakia deteriorate
Ukrainian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline have blocked oil imports to Hungary and Slovakia for several days, sparking a political clash between Kiev, Budapest and Bratislava.
Ukraine has attacked oil facilities on Russian territory with drones and missiles. This pipeline transports Russian oil through Ukraine and Belarus to Central Europe, where Hungary and Slovakia continue to import large quantities.
On Sunday, the Ukrainian president said that these attacks could be linked to Hungary's veto of Ukraine's EU membership process.
"We have always supported the friendship between Ukraine and Hungary. Now the existence of this friendship depends on Hungary's position," Zelensky said when asked whether the attacks on the Druzhba pipeline are a means of pressuring Viktor Orbán to lift his veto on the launch of EU accession negotiations.
