The EU will not "punish" Israel for its actions in Gaza, but will closely monitor the implementation of the latest agreement.

The European Union will not take punitive measures against Israel for its actions in the Gaza Strip, but will closely monitor the implementation of a recent agreement to improve humanitarian aid in the territory, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas said during a press conference after a meeting of 27 EU ministers in Brussels.

Ministers met to discuss the deal brokered last week with Israel, which aims to increase the number of aid trucks and open several new crossing points for aid into Gaza. They also examined a list of 10 possible measures, including the suspension of visa-free travel and a ban on imports from Jewish settlements, in response to the violation of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

"Israel must take more concrete steps to improve the humanitarian situation on the ground," Kallas said.

Ukraine's Prime Minister resigns

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal submitted his resignation on Tuesday, marking the first official step toward a broad reshuffle of President Volodymyr Zelensky's government that could include replacing Ukraine's ambassador to Washington.

"I am submitting my resignation from the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine," Shmyhal wrote in a letter published on his Telegram page.

President Zelensky announced a day ago that he has proposed the post of Prime Minister to Yulia Svyrydenko, 39, currently Deputy Prime Minister and the country's first female Minister of Economy.

Svyrydenko played a key role in the negotiations for the US-Ukraine mining agreement and has frequently represented Ukraine in high-level talks with Western partners, particularly in the areas of defense, economic recovery, and reconstruction.

The UK secretly relocated thousands of Afghans

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Thousands of Afghan nationals have been secretly relocated to the United Kingdom after a data leak from the British military made their identities public and sparked fears they could be targeted by the Taliban.

A database of around 19,000 Afghans who had applied to cross into Britain after the Taliban took control in 2021 was mistakenly published in 2022 and parts of it were later published online, Defence Secretary John Healey announced on Tuesday.

In response, the then Conservative government set up a secret program to resettle these Afghans, many of whom had collaborated with British forces.

Around 4,500 people, 900 applicants and approximately 3,600 of their family members, have been brought to the UK under the programme and around 6,900 people are expected to be resettled by the time the programme ends, at a total cost of £850 million (€979 million).

Russia attacks Ukraine with drones one day after Trump's 50-day ultimatum for peace deal

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Russian forces carried out drone strikes in several regions of Ukraine overnight Tuesday, bringing the death toll since Sunday to five, according to local authorities.

In Dnipro, debris from drones damaged an apartment building, six houses and a school, but fortunately there were no injuries. Several districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region were also hit by Shahed and FPV drones.

US President Donald Trump and NATO chief Mark Rutte announced on Monday further arms shipments to Ukraine, which will be produced by the US and paid for by European NATO countries.

Trump also said he is giving Russia 50 days to reach a peace deal, or face what he called "very tough" economic sanctions.
