Nikkie de Jager or ("NikkieTutorials") as she is known online today shared with followers the long-hidden truth. One of the most popular make-up YouTubers publicly said in a video that she is transgender.
De Jager, the German YouTuber living in the Netherlands, shared the story with 12 million people following her on her channel. During the confession she thanked her mother for calling her the most supportive and that the YouTube channel with make-up tips started during her transition.
The beauty guru, most famous for her videos has worked with Jessie J or Lady Gaga as well as collaborated with popular cosmetics brands.
During the confession she said she knew she was a girl as a child. At the age of six, she had long hair and started to identify herself as such.
"I've always wanted to share this part with you. I just wanted to do it on my own terms, but here we live in a world where people hate those who are true to themselves. I'm blackmailed by people who wanted to show it media my story, but that didn't scare me! - she says at the beginning of the video.
Some kids in the class understood me, others didn't, but no problem. I will be forever grateful to the teachers who supported me on this journey. "
She said she started taking hormones since she was 14 and used drugs that "prevent growth" to stop prolonging. Fully a woman found herself when she was 19, shortly after she started making her first YouTube videos.
De Jager did not even mention her fiancé, saying they worked on the situation in complete privacy. Both decided to keep the connection away from social networks.
